Office Wi-Fi is a density problem, not a speed problem

The most common mistake in projects across the capital is sizing the network around the contracted internet link. The work starts with a survey of the physical space and the intended usage: how many people, where they sit, which applications are heavy, what needs a wired drop and what can go wireless. From that comes the drop plan, the equipment selection, and the logical design of the network.

Execution includes labeling every drop and documenting everything installed. It sounds like a detail — until the day someone needs to trace where a specific cable comes from, and the difference between an organized, labeled rack and an unlabeled one is minutes versus hours.

Moving offices without inheriting the problem

An office move is the best opportunity to fix what was improvised — and the most commonly wasted one. The default is to replicate the old arrangement in the new space for lack of time. Planning the new location's network before the move, with the design finished and the infrastructure installed before people arrive, costs the same and delivers a fundamentally different environment.
